Talk Therapy, Coaching, Hypnotherapy…Oh My. How Do You Actually Choose?
So you finally decide you’re ready to work with someone. You open Google and… boom. Every option sounds like it’s speaking directly to you. This one feels right. Wait, maybe that one. Or this. Should I do all of them?
Cue analysis paralysis.
I’ve been there. That’s exactly why I’m giving you the cliff notes breakdown of each, and more importantly, why I chose the work I do today.
Talk Therapy
Beautiful. Necessary. Deeply supportive.
Psychotherapy is a broad umbrella that helps you understand your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns through conscious awareness. It’s analytical in nature. You process experiences, identify patterns, build coping strategies, and work through relationships.
It is often past-focused. You revisit, re-evaluate, and make sense of what has already happened.
And here’s the truth most people feel but don’t always say out loud: talk therapy asks the conscious mind to fix what the conscious mind didn’t create.
That’s why it can take time. It creates awareness, which is powerful, but awareness alone doesn’t always create change. You can understand why you do something and still find yourself doing it.
Therapists also work from a healthcare model. They diagnose, treat, and support mental health conditions. It’s structured, important, and for many, a necessary foundation.
Coaching
Now think of a coach as the person in your corner who refuses to let you play small.
Coaching is present and future-focused. It’s about where you are now and where you know, deep down, you’re meant to go.
A coach helps you bridge that gap.
Together, you create a vision and a plan. You build tools, accountability, and momentum. You stop circling the same patterns and start moving forward.
This is where you get unstuck.
Just like elite athletes have coaches to reach their peak, having someone reflect your blind spots, challenge your limits, and hold you to your potential changes everything.
A coach doesn’t fix you. They help you access the version of you that’s already there.
Hypnotherapy
This is where things get powerful.
Hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious mind. Instead of just talking about the problem, we shift the patterns underneath it.
Because the truth is, most of your behaviors, reactions, and beliefs are not coming from your conscious mind. They’re automatic. Conditioned. Wired in.
Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation and focused awareness. In that state, your mind becomes more receptive to change at the root level.
We’re not analyzing every detail. We’re reprogramming the patterns driving the behavior.
Through hypnotherapy, you can:
Create powerful, immediate realizations
Release unproductive habits at their core
Install new, aligned behaviors and beliefs
And despite what people think, you are always in control. You’re not “out.” You’re aware, present, and guiding the process. I’m simply there to facilitate.
Most clients leave surprised at how natural, calming, and honestly… enjoyable it feels.
Why I chose coaching and hypnotherapy
Talk therapy was my gateway. It gave me awareness. It helped me understand myself.
But I also remember feeling like I was on a hamster wheel. I could explain my patterns, but I wasn’t changing them. I wasn’t moving.
And I hear that from clients all the time.
This is not a dismissal of therapy. It’s an evolution.
I wanted more than understanding. I wanted transformation.
That’s why I chose to combine coaching and hypnotherapy.
Coaching gives you direction, clarity, and forward movement.
Hypnotherapy rewires the patterns that have been keeping you stuck.
Together, they create real momentum.
Most of my clients move between both depending on what life is bringing up. Sometimes you need strategy and support. Sometimes you need deep internal rewiring.
That combination is where the shift happens.
If you’ve made it this far, trust that something here resonated.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. But if you’re ready to stop circling the same patterns and actually move forward, you now understand why this work is so powerful.
