Why Are You Attracted to People Who Can't Meet Your Needs?

Understanding Attachment Patterns and Where They Come From

Who else has fallen for the "bad boy," or had a friend who "gently" stabbed you with comments that left you wondering if they were a friend or an enemy? Just me? Cool, I'll keep going anyway.

It's so common to have a friend who mean girls you more than not (I hope you get the reference). Or a partner who feels like a constant push and pull. And somehow, we stay. We question ourselves more than we ever question their behavior, their comments, their character.

This is not a "you" problem. Yes, it's something you have to navigate. But it doesn't exist because you're wrong, or because you deserve the comments that leave a sting like acid on skin. The real question isn't whether you did something wrong. It's why you keep attracting, or staying with, this type of person.

That's not an easy question to answer, because I'm guessing, like me, you can see their good qualities too. There's real laughter, real conversation, real moments that feel good. But once the tiny jabs and the "did they really just say that" moments start showing up more and more, why don't we walk away? Why don't we speak up, or ask what just happened?

Why Do We Stay in Relationships That Don't Meet Our Needs?

There can be a lot of reasons underneath it:

  • Childhood experiences or relationships that taught you this was "normal" behavior from the people who loved you

  • Wanting to fit in with the "cool" kids

  • Not feeling deserving of kindness in the first place

The layers can run deep, and there can be more than one. That's where the work I do comes in.

How Hypnotherapy Can Help You Understand Your Attachment Patterns

Hypnosis lets you peel back those layers and get down to the actual root cause, or causes. Then, through coaching, you're able to unpack what you find out loud instead of carrying it silently. Your conscious mind can only work with what it remembers, or what it's decided matters to your attachment style. Going beneath that is how you get to the real why behind the pattern, not just a guess. No more telling your provider (or yourself) what you think they want to hear, and no more settling for what you cognitively believe must be your truth.

Through hypnotherapy, you get to actually understand what's been keeping you in these relationships. And once you understand it, you get to choose something different.
